In 2024, SKOLA proudly opened its new residence, offering single-room accommodation for students aged 12 to 17. Situated just a convenient 20-minute walk from SKOLA Regents Park, our aim is to provide young learners with an immersive English language and cultural experience in a safe and supportive environment.

Nestled in the heart of Marylebone, an affluent and historically rich area of inner London, the residence enjoys a prestigious location. This neighbourhood boasts a fascinating past, having been home to literary and musical icons such as Charles Dickens, Paul McCartney, and John Lennon. The residence is managed by dedicated SKOLA staff, ensuring 24/7 supervision. At the helm is our experienced Housemistress, Mary. A seasoned educator with a wealth of international experience, Mary has taught English in France, Spain, and currently in Morocco. She returns to SKOLA each summer to oversee the residence, bringing her unique perspective and passion for student welfare. Notably, she also volunteered with Team GB during the London 2012 Olympics.
A typical day begins at 07:00, allowing students ample time to prepare for school. A hearty, hot breakfast is served downstairs at 08:00, setting them up for a day of learning. Students and SKOLA staff then walk together to SKOLA Regents Park at 08:30. While the route is safe, we prioritise student well-being by providing guided accompaniment, particularly at road crossings. The academic day at SKOLA Regents Park concludes at 16:30, but residential students remain for engaging after-school activities. They depart the school at 17:00, arriving back at the residence by 17:30, where they are signed in by Mary. Following a brief break, students participate in interactive evening activities designed to enhance their speaking skills, such as board games, held either in the residence garden or the communal common room. A hot, nutritious dinner is served at the residence each evening.
Students have readily embraced the residence as their ‘home away from home’, with one student affectionately referring to Mary as his ‘second mother’. British Council inspectors, during their routine four-yearly accreditation visit, were highly satisfied with the residence’s safe and nurturing environment, confirming its effectiveness in supporting students' English language development beyond the classroom.
