SKOLA: a Centre of Excellence

Why SKOLA is London’s best place for students to learn English and discover other cultures

I’m happy to report that SKOLA is once again a Centre of Excellence. The EL Gazette evaluates British Council reports every year and gives the title to the top 25% of schools. This means that when you send your child to SKOLA English in London, you’re choosing a place that does more than teach English. You’re choosing a place that cares, inspires, and creates a safe, unforgettable experience for young learners. Here are some of the areas SKOLA stands out from our British Council report:

1. A school that puts students first

SKOLA’s management team runs a tight ship, and everything they do has one goal: giving students the best. The British Council praised this focus, saying:

“The management of the provision, in all respects, operates clearly to the benefit of the students.”

The staff’s commitment to caring for students isn’t just talk. It’s shown through a system that gathers feedback from both students and parents. SKOLA listens, learns, and keeps improving.

2. Safe spaces, happy faces

SKOLA believes that a student learns best when they feel safe and at ease. That’s why they’ve made both the Gloucester Gate and Regent’s University campuses welcoming, bright, and secure. From classrooms full of natural light to well-kept sports courts, SKOLA’s spaces are carefully planned:

“The premises provide students and staff with a very safe, comfortable and professional environment for work and relaxation.”

They’ve got all areas covered with detailed safety checks and trusted staff who know the school’s routines inside and out. Here, students can be students – and that makes all the difference.

3. Teachers who do more than teach

SKOLA’s teachers are not just well-qualified; they’re passionate about helping students learn and grow. They receive ongoing training and support, so they’re always ready to deliver their best. The British Council found that:

“Courses are well-structured and managed to provide the maximum possible benefit to students.”

Each teacher is chosen not only for their skill but for their heart. At SKOLA, teachers guide, encourage, and bring out the best in every student.

4. Support that’s there when students need it

Whether it’s homesickness, a question about class, or just needing someone to talk to, SKOLA’s support system is there. The team knows that every child is unique, and their care shows it:

“Pastoral care is very good, and all staff are aware of their duties in this area.”

Staff are trained in mental health first aid, and there are digital systems for reporting any concerns. SKOLA ensures every student feels heard and supported.

5. Real-world learning and adventure

Students don’t just learn in classrooms at SKOLA. They explore. They experience. Every week, students get out into London, taking part in activities that make language come alive. Sports, drama, art – it’s all part of the SKOLA experience:

“The leisure programme is appropriate to the age and interests of the students. Activities are varied and include sports, drama, and art as well as excursions which enhance their experience of studying in the UK.”

Learning doesn’t stop with the end of class. At SKOLA, students practise English with each other while discovering the city around them.

6. Safe, thoughtful supervision for students and teens

At SKOLA, safety comes first. The school has a strong, clear policy to keep students safe, whether they’re in class, on a trip, or in residence. Staff members are trained in child protection and take their roles seriously:

“Supervision of students during scheduled lessons and activities is very well managed… procedures are well thought through and rigorously executed.”

Every student is cared for with attention and respect, so you can feel confident in your choice.

Choose SKOLA – choose excellence

SKOLA is more than a school; it’s a place where young learners thrive. It’s a school that meets – and exceeds – every standard, from teaching to safety to student care. The British Council’s report is clear: SKOLA is a place where your child will be safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
